DIY No Sew Pillow Cover

My mom recently gave me a couple of pillows that she didn't use anymore so I decided to try and cover them to use on my couch!
I don't know how to sew, so I bought some Heat n Bond and fabric then got to work.

You'll need:

an iron                                                              a no sew fabric adhesive

Some fabric and a pillow... I used 5/8 of a yard to cover a 20x20 pillow.

1. Make sure your fabric is right side up or "pretty side" up. That is the side that your adhesive is going to go on. Measure out how long of adhesive you need to only cover the edge of half of your fabric length. { Make sure the bumpy side is facing down and is as straight as you can get it }

2: Iron on the adhesive. Follow the directions on the back of your adhesive package. Mine said only hold the iron on for 2 seconds.

3. Let the adhesive cool and bond completely to the fabric. Once that is done you can peel the paper part of the adhesive off.

4.  Fold over the rest of your fabric so that the other half can bond with the adhesive side to make a seam.
Now the "wrong side" should be facing up.

5. Iron the both edges together so that they bond and create the seam. My directions told me to hold the iron on there for around 5 seconds.

6. Let it cool completely. Turn the pillow case inside-out. You should be left with one open end so that you can fit the pillow in.

Here's a close up of the seam.

7. Stuff the pillow inside being mindful of the seams. I went kinda slow to insure that the seams don't come apart.

8. Fold the extra fabric in and place the adhesive strip on.

{Be mindful of where to put the strip so that you don't leave too much of a gap between the seam and the pillow}

9. Follow through with directions just like before. Make sure to push down on the pillow so that the two pieces of fabric do not separate while you are ironing. This part was very tricky for me.

After I was done ironing, I put something heavy on top so that the edges wouldn't come apart.

There you have it! A super easy and cheap way to cover a pillow without sewing! Altogether this project costed me around $10.00 and I still have a ton of left over Heat n Bond.

I bought the other pillow cover on Etsy and I really want more! I think I found the exact fabric at Joann's so I think I will make a couple more of each pattern to brighten up my couch ;)

Hope you enjoyed!

Coffee Bar!

Since I have finally admitted to myself that I am a slight coffee addict...I decided there's no better time then now to show you my make shift coffee bar!

Now, it's not super special or anything but its a cute touch to our kitchen.. eventually I'll get a little coffee bar sign and paint my dresser back to black (we painted it white for our wedding).

The white board I made myself and I bought the black tray from Hobby Lobby for around $10. The block "A" is from TJMAXX which was also a wedding decoration..
The mug is of coarse from Anthropology. You can't have a mug collection without the infamous Anthro mug. ;)
The apothecary jar, sugar cup and creamer cup is from Target.

Believe it or not, it was my husbands idea to put the dresser in the kitchen here. He is a genius! He reasoning was to save room in our bedroom and then I realized that I had just pinned a coffee bar pin that same day! BOOM! It was done. I had a genius husband and a cute shabby chic coffee bar!

The best part about having my coffee bar made out of a dresser is the extra storage!
We have a pretty big kitchen for the size of our little house, with a ton of storage space, but when we realized how much stuff we got for our wedding, we were hunting down every possible free space to put things.

All of my mugs will fit here for now.. I tend to buy one every big city we go to so once we start traveling more it'll have to move.

I also store my candles in the second drawer... I have a slight addiction.. that's not even all of them.. :)

Hope this gave you a little inspiration!!

Oh and I'm having issues with my comment section on here. I have no idea if anybody has ever left me comments so if you have or know how to fix my comment problem, would you mind emailing me? withlovekenzieann@gmail.com
I think it might be my template so I'm in the market for a new one... possibly by Aubrey Kinch?? Oh I hope I can convince my hubby! Pray for me! ;)

DIY Shabby Chic Wreath

Two weekends ago, the family went to Pinecrest for a mini hunting vacation.. I get bored very easy and since this year we rented a cabin, I decided to bring my wreath project along with me. This was my first wreath that I have ever made so i was nervous on how it would turn out, especially because I never read a tutorial on it. I'd say it turned out pretty darn cute! Here's how I made it!

What you need:

  • Wire wreath. I picked mine up at Hobby Lobby for $2.99, I think mine is 12 inches but I could be wrong..
  • 3 yards of fabric...also from Hobby Lobby. Pretty sure it's just plain cotton or linen. The color I used was called bone.
  • Fabric scissors
  • Metal wreath hanger.

How to make it:

  • Cut fabric into 3 1/2 x 1 inch strips like you see in the first picture. Ignore the burlap. I was going to tie in strips of burlap as well, but the burlap was way to difficult to tie.

  • Next, tie each strip all the way around the wreath, filling up each row. Sometimes I double knotted them and sometimes I didn't because the strips were too short. The fabric will fray at the edges and will make a little mess onto your work space, but it didn't bother me.

It should turn out to look something like this! I'm very happy with the result! The best part is that you can put it up any time of year :) For the bow, I just tied it my wreath hanger to hide the hook in front, with black ribbon.

Here's some pics from the weekend... I apologize about the quality I forgot my camera ;) I'll hopefully get the pictures from the DSLR I was using soon.
