Summer Wardrobe Staple

It's finally time to break out the maxi skirts!
I bought this blue chevron maxi skirt from target two years ago and it has not failed me! I'm so in love with maxi skirts because they are so easy. I literally throw one on with a tang top in the spring and summer and call it good! OH and for this short girl having one with a fold over waist band is a must...I can get this thing into a dress if I pull it up all the way! Thats the bummer about true maxi dresses (which I also love) they end up being too long and I can't adjust it.
It's nice to have more of a statement skirt too because it makes getting dressed in the morning a no brainer. No need for a ton of jewelry, which for me me is always a plus because I am horrible at accessorizing! It's horrible! Mostly it's because I don't have to the money to spend on it because I would rather get nail polish or a new top...but yeah what kind of girl am I??

I Wore Heels.

Sundays are always such a weird day for me. I am usually happy because its the weekend, but really sad because monday is quickly approaching and that means work. BLAHHH! I never get quite enough done on my weekend days off, leading to an overwhelmed feeling Sunday night.

Well, since I can't do anything about it now, I will share with you what I wore this morning to church...I wore H E E L S! Yes that's right it's a big deal. I haven't worn heels in probably over a year. I am usually so against them because they are just so darn uncomfortable, but today I wanted to spice up my attire. I will say that they did remind me of why I normally don't wear them, but I actually kinda liked them! I'm thinking I will have to start the hunt for some comfortable heels for this spring and summer season.

Less Is More

It's been getting quite warm here this past week which makes me want to throw out all my heavy makeup looks and start fresh with simple ones. I love not wearing much makeup. Honestly, if I didn't enjoy putting it on so much then I would probably wear even less. My favorite days are ones that are sunny and warm and you can just through on a tiny bit of foundation and mascara and call it good. That's usually my go to summer face. Less is more. Plus, who wants to spend time in front of the mirror when you could be outside enjoying the sunshine!?
With the warm up this week I have adopted my new makeup routine and have been loving its simplicity.

Can you tell these products are well loved? ;)

Olay CC Cream in "Light"// I picked this up at target probably last year from target when it was sale for maybe $8...it was way too cheap to pass up so I bought it, even though its pretty light for my skin tone. I never wear it by itself. I mainly use it for a tiny bit of color correcting, moisturizer, and SPF. I A L W A Y S wear a moisturizer with SPF.

Revlon Colorstay for normal to dry skin "180 sand beige"// I mentioned this in my February favorites post. I just love this foundation. I have only been putting on a tiny amount with my fingers. Usually I apply with a foundation brush but lately if I rub it around in my fingers and apply like I would my moisturizer, I apply less and still get great coverage. I hate feeling like I have foundation caked on when it's hot out.

NYC Bronzer in "Sunny"// I think you can find this stuff for under $3 at target...Its the perfect bronzer shade for me. Not too muddy colored but not too orange either.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in "Bad to the Bronze" // Also mentioned in my Feb. Favs. I also just apply with my fingers on my eyelids. Nothing more!

Loreal Volumious Carbon Black Mascara // This mascara has a natural bristle wand. I just curl my lashes and apply 1 light coat. I love that I can put a little on to make my eyelashes look darker yet natural. It's basically the only mascara I will buy.

I hate identifying myself with what I look like with a full face of makeup. If I am constantly having to put on makeup to make myself feel pretty, then I know I'm doing it for the wrong reason. I think that's true for everyone. There's nothing wrong with makeup but when you only identify with who you have made yourself to look and at not who God made you to be, you have a problem. I like going natural and light on my makeup. Makes me feel free and I realize that how I look isn't the only thing people see about me. Let that personality shine too girls!

Country Meets Aztec

In honor of "Target Tuesday" I decided to show you my favorite Target aztec draped cardigan.
The material is like a knitted gauze and its very stretchy. The sizing of for me was wayyyy off. I ended up getting an XS and I'm normal a Large in everything. I think I felt more comfortable in the XS because there was less material for the draped part in the front which can easily make me look larger if I'm not careful.

I'm totally in love with this sweater though and have become obsessed with Aztec print.
I'm not much of an accessory girl so I tend to go for pieces that are more statement-y so that I don't have to layer a ton of jewelry and other accessories....Not that I don't like all of that, but my brain just doesn't think about accessorizing very well. I enjoy more statement pieces that way I can either go simple on the outfit or jewelry.

February Favorites

1. Pop Beauty nail polish in "Mint Magic"// Seriously I cannot stop looking at my nails when I have this stuff on! It's like the perfect summer mint color because it's super bright but the formula is not a true neon. For me this is good. I HATE true neon polishes because of the matte finish. I love the look of an opaque, creamy, bright nail. This polish is a little pricey at $10, but it's totally worth it because I have not found anything quite like it.

2. Maybelline Color Tattoo in "Bad to the Bronze"// I have owned this cream shadow for months. I use it under shadows as well as on its own. When they say color tattoo they mean it. It lasts all day for me and that is with shadows and without. Such a great formula and color payoff with these color tattoos. I'm thinking I will have to get another one soon.

3. Nivea "A Kiss of Mint" chapstick// This stuff really saved my lips this month! I ran out of my chapstick that I was previously using and started using my EOS lip balm before bed every night. Well big bummer, that stuff chaps the heck out of my lips! I was so sad when I finally realized that it was my EOS that was chapping them and not the weather. I went out and bought the Nivea because I have heard good reviews on it and it definitely lived up to its hype with me! I bought it at the beginning of the month and I have about less than a half inch left on that sucker. I need more!

4. Revlon Color Stay Liquid Foundation// When I first started to buy liquid foundation, I went straight for this stuff. Well years went by and I wanted to try others and found the Loreal True Match Liquid Foundation and really liked it. It gave my skin a very flawless look but I noticed it was rubbing off quite quickly, especially around my chin and nose. I went to the store to pick up some more foundation because I was out and they didn't have my shade in the Loreal.  Well fine, I guess i'll try Revlon again...I brought it home and fell in love all over again! It doesn't help my pores as much as the Loreal does but it stays all day long! I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to another drugstore foundation again!

5. Benefit "Coralista" Boxed Blush// Honestly I got this from my cousin years ago...maybe that's not sanitary but whatever it doesn't break me out...and I never used it much till this year. I was never a blush wearer but since I discovered how beneficial it is for my face shape, I am a blush believer! I have a round face and my cheek bones aren't as noticeable as I would like so with this soft coral blush, they definitely get noticed. I love that with this blush you don't need a highlighter. It have golden shimmer in it so it highlights beautifully on it's own.

6. Victoria's Secret "Angel" Perfume// I got this for Christmas from my momma and I have become obsessed with this scent. It's so hard for me to find scents that I enjoy for a long time and my mom definitely found the perfect one for me. We have very similar taste's in perfume scents...does that even make sense?... so that helped but it smells really good and I am not even going to try and describe it myself so here is the description from the site. A fruity floral fragrance with notes of sparkling plum, sheer violet and amber. LOVE!

7. Tazo "Passion" Tea// I have been making Passion Tea Lemonade at home like crazy this month. It all started when the weather decided to be exceptionally nice at like 75 degrees for maybe a week or two. Naturally I got into the spring spirit early and started wanting all my fun, thirst quenching drinks again. I bought some Simply Lemonade and made my own little concoction. Delicious! Now if only this rainy weather...I am aware that we are in a drought and need the water, I just want this to pass soon...would go away so I can enjoy the sunshine and my happy drinks!

8. Natural Reflections Canvas Shoes// These are basically Tom look-a-likes. I bought them originally for my trip to South Africa. My feet were pretty swollen the whole trip so I couldn't wear them much and never really wore them again until my day trip with Kyle to Monterey. The ones I have are leopard ones like the Tom's above...apparently bass pro doesn't have them anymore. I didn't want to wear my boots on that trip and I didn't want to wear flip flops either so I pulled these babies out. I have been wearing them all month to work ever since! Oh and yes basically my only option for shoes these days are boots or flip flops...I need to re-evaluation my shoe situation but that's just what I like! I think I will get more of these Tom look-a-likes for work this summer though since closed toe shoes are my only option...

Well happy beginning of March!
Stay tuned for more of these monthly favorites! I'm excited to start making these fun collages for you and showing you what I have been loving each month!

My Winter Essentials

Sometimes you need a little something to get you through the cold winter months. Well in my case, I need 12 ;)
Check out my favorite things for winter!

1. Bath and Body Works candles. Seriously I have an addiction with candles and these are my favorite by far. They are a little more on the pricey side but with their 2 for $22 sale and a good coupon they're totally worth it. My favorite for this cold time of year is Fresh Balsam and Spiced Cider. I only burn Spiced Cider in the Kitchen (this is kinda weird but) it reminds me the kitchen when I was little...not sure who's kitchen though because my mom rarely burned candles in there.

2. My white beanie. I'm now in love with my white beanie that I got probably 3 years ago from Target. The picture isn't the exact one but is very close. White beanies just have this christmas-y, snow day feeling to me even though we live in the valley and the closest thing we have to snow is ice on our cars and lawn for a week. I can pretend there's a winter wonderland outside right? ;)

3. Grey infinity scarf. I'm pretty sure this picture is from target and this is exactly what mine looks like. I'm loving any big chunky infinity scarf. They're so cozy and warm and when you put them over just normal long sleeve shirts and pair them which a peacoat, your instantly a little more put together. They're so easy to wear and are so cute! Target has more right now that I want to snag.

4. A good hand cream. With this cold weather come dry skin. My face and hands always gets super dry this time of year. I always have a little travel sized hand cream in my purse to put on my knuckles when ever started to crack. Gross right?! Well it gives me an excuse to get the Bath and Body Works Shea Cashmere Hand Cream. It's so think and creamy and smells like a strong vanilla cupcake. The smell is pretty potent but it smells amazing to me so I don't mind, plus the way it moisturizes my hands is incredible. Everybody needs to try this product.

5. Taylor Swift Enchanted Wonderstruck perfume. I think Kyle got this for me last year for christmas or maybe it was the year before. I was trying to find a new scent that he liked to and he chose this one. Its a little fruity but has more of a vanilla carmel smell to it as opposed to the original Wonderstruck perfume. I didn't use it much after that winter he bought it for me but this month I decided to save some of my favorite Coco Chanel Mademoiselle, so I sprayed this instead. I was surprised that I liked it so much more now and have been wearing it everyday! Funny how our smells change.

6. My William Tell Me About OPI nail polish. First of all, OPI is probably my favorite nail polish with ESSIE being its close competitor. The formulation in the OPI polishes though are so opaque and never streaky for me.  The brush is also wider. Some people don't like that though so maybe test out the Rimmel Nail polish first because the brush is comparable if you don't want to pay the $8.50 for OPI. ANYWAYS that was a long way to say I love this polish. It is a really dark maroonish red. If you like dark nails but don't want to do all black, then this is perfect for you.

7. A white peacoat. The one in the picture is apparently from Victoria's Secret but this is not the one I have, although its almost identical. Mine is from Bass Pro Shops 2 years ago. Kyle got it for me for Christmas because every time we went to bass pro I had to try it on and stare in the mirror at it. I'm in love with it still. With the coat being white, I have to wear a scarf with it always or else my makeup from my neck/ jaw line area will get on it, but if I'm wearing a heavy coat it means it really cold and I would want to wear a scarf anyways. Bass Pro doesn't have the white one this year but they do have a beautiful red one that I almost wanted but I realized I need a black one before a colored one. They are really nice jackets though; very well made.

8. Starbucks. Need I say more? Ok I will say something though, My husband has given me a coffee budget of $15 a month which has made this addiction hard to get over. Now its a special occasion when I get my Starbs.
p.s. I totally break the winter rule and get Pumpkin Spice Lattes till February when they usually run out.

9. Ariat Fatbaby Saddle Boot: Russet Rebel. I wear these babies every day. They're a good boot to dress up and still be comfortable although my are getting pretty roughed up because I wear them everywhere including to the mountains or while doing some outside work.

10. Revlon Lip Butters. My lips are usually so dry that when I put any type of lip stick on, it looks like a mess. I don't like lip gloss either so when my friend introduced me to these, they instantly became a favorite. My lips also have a lot of lines on them so even when they're not dry, lipstick still doesn't work for me. These are the most moisturizing lip sticks I have every com across. When they rub off through out the day, they leave a stain on your lips  which I love. My favorites are Red Velvet and Pink Truffle.

11. A good pair of Jeans. I bought my first pair of "nice jeans" last year and instantly fell in love and never looked back. Be careful when you think of getting the expensive jeans because you'll find that they fit so incredibly that any other jean just fits like crap, to be honest.  If you're the kind of girl that looks good in any brand of jeans then more power to you, but I have to worst time going jean shopping. I am a pear shape so my lower half is a lot thicker than my waist and my legs are really short. (I'm 5'3'' on a good day) The day I went to Buckle and the jeans fit me so nicely was one of the best days ever! Yes I am so serious right now. I've bought BKE and Miss Me so far and they have held up great. Try investing in your jeans. It's so worth it.

12. My Costco Uggs. I realize they're not called Uggs if they're from Costco but Uggs have just taken over this style of boots name. They're only $40 and they are so freakin comfortable. I also wear these boots almost everyday. I probably won't ever buy real Uggs because I am so satisfied with how the Costco one and made and they seriously are identical  to real ones. The only difference is that they don't have the Ugg tag on the back heal. LOVE THEM!

tips for growing your hair.

In August I decided to chop off my hair. I had kept it long for 6 years and after the wedding I was ready for a change. I showed my mother-in-law pictures of different styles and she went to work. It turned out really cute but after about a week I reallllyyyy missed my long hair. My hair is probably my favorite part about myself. I don't have to color it and the texture and thickness is perfect for me to style however I want.

Chelsea's hair here is a tad longer than mine but this will show you the longest it was.

I've taken pride in my hair and I totally missed it so I decided I would grow it back out!

Here's what I have been using to grow out my hair:
    1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

These products are way more inexpensive than what I used to use but works just as well!
Here are some tips for taking care of your hair when you want to grow it out fast.

Tip 1: When your washing your hair, only shampoo your scalp and condition the hair from your ears down. The shampoo can dry out your ends and too much conditioner on your scalp can make it produce more oil.

Tip 2: Twice a week apply a hair mask or deep conditioner to the ends of your hair while your in the shower instead of conditioner.

Tip 3: When brushing out your wet hair, DO NOT USE A BRUSH! It totally destroys your ends. Use a wide tooth comb to comb through your hair. If your hair is super tangly, try a detangling spray before combing out so that way your not breaking your hair.

Tip 4: Apply a dime sized amount of oil to the ends of your wet hair. I do this every time I wash my hair.

Tip 5: After you apply oil to the ends, try to let your hair air dry as much as possible to minimize heat on it.

Tip 6: Always use a heat protectant when heat styling your hair but try to keep as much heat away from your hair as possible. It tends to fry and break hair overtime leading to your hair not looking like its growing because the ends are so brittle, they're breaking off.

Tip 7: Do not wash your hair everyday. Your scalp produces natural oils to moisturize your hair. In between washes before styling spray some dry shampoo to your roots to soak up extra oil and make your hair smell fresh.

Well, there you have it! My tips for growing your hair out. I totally live by these tips that I have shared with you and since August, my hair has grown almost 3 inches. To me this is super good so I will continue to live by my little hair ritual ;)

Anybody else have any hair growth tips they would like to share??

With love,
Kenzie Ann
